Wow! It's the new year already. Last year was absolutely massive for us here at Rabbit HQ - and this year looks even bigger! Thanks to everyone who came to our show at The Zoo. We had a most excellent night and enjoyed playing some new songs for you all. If you missed out you can read about it

Our live shows are well underway, the writing/recording process is continuing and the new demos are coming thick and fast. We hope you're enjoying our new sounds and there will be more to come. Here we are.....we're back!! After a long winter of writing and demoing new songs for a new album we've hit the rehearsal rooms again for some new shows. But this time there is a new addition to the Rabbits - the very talented Mr. Shaun Paton on keys. You can catch Shaun and our new songs at our upcoming shows which, we promise, are in the making as we speak. Details about these thing will be posted here on our new website real soon.

Other than this you will be able to hear and download some of our new songs at Triple J Unearthed in the next couple of weeks. So, if you want to stay-up-to-date, join our mailing list. But for now, checkout The Electric Desert as to what we're up to on a regular basis.

SIFTING SAND

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who has been so supportive over the last few weeks while we've been out of gigging action. It really does make our work worth it when we continue to get positive feedback from you guys. But rest assured, we will be back on stage before you know it, with a bigger show.

Even though there are no live shows at the moment, we have started the long process of recording demos. This is the first step towards a new release for you to feast your ears on. And from this week we'll be keeping very regular updates at The Electric Desert on how this is going, so come check it out often and see how the process is going.

NEW HORIZONS

Sadly we've had to cancel the remainder of our shows for the next few months. One of the rabbits, Nikki, has decided to leave the burrow. We wish her all the best for the future.

This doesn't mean you won't be hearing from us on a regular basis. We're going into gig hibernation for a little while to write and record the rest of our upcoming album - amongst other things... But we'll have plenty of new songs, insights into the world of Howling Rabbits recordings and a few nice little surprises we've planned for the coming months. Oh, and most importantly a new Rabbit.

FIRST TIMERS

The past few weeks have been rather busy for Howling Rabbits. We're coming off the back of a number of kick-ass shows and if you think we've been kicking back over the past few weeks, you're wrong! As far as we're concerned, all systems are go behind the scenes and we're currently hard at work on a number of projects. First of all, we've recently moved into a new rehearsal space and I'm happy to say that everybody has settled in well. We're now hard at work rehearsing for the next line of shows in March (Details can be found on the 'SHOWS' page). For those of you that are coming, you can expect a number of surprises as well as another brand new song from the album that we're currently working on.

Those select people that went along with our little surprise at the Balcony 153 show can expect mail very soon! On behalf of the band, I'd just like to say that we were blown away by the support on the night. It was certainly a memorable gig for us and we're looking forward to playing at Balcony 153 again on 25th March. If you'd like to view some of the footage from the show, videos can be found on the Howling Rabbits YouTube channel.

THE ELECTRIC DESERT...

We get asked a lot of questions about.....well...everything! So as a result, we have started a new blog called 'The Electric Desert' which will be a more in depth look at what we do. Whether it's how we record stuff, our gear and instrument, rehearsals or beard trimming tips etc... It will probably end up on the blog (So keep the questions coming). To kick things off we've posted a track from our, slowly but surely upcoming remix EP Mixamatosis. Just go to our website and click the 'Electric Desert' link at the top of the page.

Secondly, we are recording a new album this year. If you've been coming to our recent shows, you will have heard some of the songs that will appear on it. And we'll playing more as time goes by. So if you want to find out about how this process is going, this too will appear in our blog.

A NEW YEAR

Well another year is here, and the end of last year was one fantastic finale for Howling Rabbits.

Thanks to everyone who came to our set at The Globe. It was a record crowd for us - and we noticed the extra love in the air.

Also, Our song Vertigo came in at #4 in the 4ZZZ Hot 100. Thanks to everyone that voted. It was an awesome start to the New Year and it was all because of you guys! Thanks so much.

Now, it'a back to rehearsals for our next show at X&Y on the 18th of Jan. We have begun work on our new stuff, so expect to here some more in our next shows.

THE SHIRTS OFF OUR BACKS

Ahhhh! Just some of the small bonuses of being on our mailing list.

Speaking of said show, our last performance of the year is happening on the 18th December at The Globe Theatre. We have been kindly asked to play alongside some great bands for "The Globe Theatre and Cherry Red Christmas Extravaganza". We're on first [8pm] so get there early...but stick around for the celebrations. Not even Santa is going to miss this one.

ALIVE AND HOPPING

Howling Rabbits are now in the midst of kicking off our live show stint. Already with a successful warm-up performance in Toowoomba (made even more fantastic by the great crowd we had), Brisbane is now next on our hit list. With shows lined up for December and January already. For more information on our upcoming shows, click the word shows at the top or our webpage.

Local music hero Lucas Arundell has jumped on board our Mixamatosis project and is in the midst of doing a remix of Drones for the EP that is slowly taking form. Also our talented and good friend at Rock Ox Records', Sam Lukowski will also be appearing on the EP with a remix of Superteen and Vertigo. If you want to find out more on this project join our mailing list and you will soon be able to download a couple of free tracks of this EP in the coming weeks. If your already on the list, stay tuned.

Also, work has finally begun on a new album that should be out by late next year or early 2012. A taste of this should be available by mid next year...?

OUT OF THE BURROW

After a few months of seemingly dormant activity, Howling rabbits are emerging from our dark, busy, little burrow with a full line-up, the promise of upcoming live shows and promise of a good ending to the rest of the year. Our band of very talented musicians is now complete, and is as follows: Steve Graham - bass, Leith Jocabs on Drums, Cameron Nicholls on guitar and Nicole Stevens on Keys. Check out the video to see what we've been up to.

Two other things that you will notice on our website in the coming months as we get closer to playing shows are: a new page with all our upcoming gigs and 'Thump!', our mobile notifier. In the past few weeks, most community and some internet radio stations would have received our new album by now. So, hopefully you should be hearing us on the airways soon. Requesting our music is now an highly recommended pastime. Just find the one for your local area, tune-in, phone-up and request. One such station is Hobart's Edge Radio 99.3FM. They have been kind enough to include us in their recommended release for this fortnight (5 April - 19th April). So if your in the region, or you listen online at www.edgeradio.org.au, there might be a chance to win some Howling Rabbits giveaways.

To follow up our unvirgining into the radio world, we are now beginning rehearsals to play a score of shows later in the year. Our new additions to the band will be announced in the coming weeks. THE MERCHANT OF RABBIT

Well after one long magic-carpet ride and a fair amount of help from friends, the CD release of 'Beware the Hunter' is finally upon us. Coming in a sportingly hip digipak it can be purchased directly from our Online Merchandise Shop. If you don't have PayPal account or a credit card you can download an order-form and send it along with a money order to us here at howling rabbits.

You will soon be able to purchase the album from Itunes, Rhapsody, CDbaby and selected local indie record stores. This information will be posted our updates as they happen.

To coincide with the release of the album, we have a selection of merchandise that is also available exclusively from our online shop. We will be adding more and more items over the next few months, so come back often and take a look. Or join our mailing list and stay up-to-date about many upcoming features.

Rumours of a BTH remix EP are floating around, and they're true. Workings on this are in the pipeline. More information about guest remixes and release dates will be posted in the coming months. We can tell you though that this release will be very limited in numbers and completely exclusive to this website.

BEWARE THE HUNTER

1 year, 1 month and 1 day and about 10,000 hard packed espresso coffees later, Brisbane artist and self-confessed caffeine addict, Howling Rabbits, has sailed beyond the doors of a dimly lit, paisley clad studio for his debut LP - Beware The Hunter.

Amongst a lyric-sheet strewn space, lost in a suburban house, impossible chains of self-made retro effects hum on seas of black, spaghetti studio cables, allowing residual fuzz, echoing guitars and hypnotic bass to throb - stopping papery vocals from falling into silence.

Little Red Riding Hood, Houdini, twisted love, seething isolation and myriad of sinful suburban secrets, are characters and landscapes invited to set the lyrical tone for this album.

A band is being formed as you read to perform live shows to amaze, terrify and death defy in your resounding eyes......Won't you come and march with us??
